Chief of Wiring, Avionics, EMC & Electrical/Electronic Design Assurance (EEDA)

We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic engineering leader to take on the role of Chief of Wiring, Avionics, Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC), and Electrical/Electronic Design Assurance (EEDA). This position plays a critical role in shaping the future of aircraft electrical and avionics systems, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and advancing cutting-edge technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Strategy

  • Lead a multidisciplinary engineering team in the design, development, and certification of wiring, avionics, EMC, and EEDA systems.
  • Define and implement strategic goals for electrical and avionics systems, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives.
  • Act as the subject matter expert (SME), providing technical leadership in avionics, wiring, and EMC disciplines.

Wiring & Avionics Development

  • Oversee the design and integration of aircraft wiring harnesses, connectors, and electrical systems.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards for avionics software and hardware development.
  • Manage avionics system requirements, architecture, and integration into aircraft platforms.

EMC & Electrical Design Assurance

  • Lead efforts to ensure electromagnetic compatibility of avionics and electrical systems.
  • Oversee EEDA processes to ensure compliance with regulatory standards such as DO-254, DO-160, ARP4754A, and ARP4761.
  • Ensure rigorous testing and validation of electrical and electromagnetic performance.

Certification & Compliance

  • Interface with Transport Canada, FAA, and EASA to ensure compliance with aircraft certification requirements.
  • Lead the preparation of engineering documentation for regulatory validation and certification.
  • Ensure all wiring, avionics, and EMC systems meet safety, quality, and airworthiness standards.

Team & Stakeholder Management

  • Mentor and develop junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including supply chain, quality assurance, and production, to ensure seamless integration and delivery of systems.
  • Work closely with customers and stakeholders to capture requirements and develop innovative solutions that meet operational needs.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in avionics, wiring, and electrical systems within the aerospace industry.
  • Extensive expertise in EMC, EEDA, and regulatory certification processes (e.g., DO-160, DO-254).
  • Proven leadership experience managing engineering teams in a fast-paced environment.

Technical Skills:

  • Deep expertise in avionics systems, wiring design, and integration.
  • Strong knowledge of EMC standards and testing methods.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Transport Canada, FAA, and EASA regulations for aircraft electrical systems.
  • Experience with design assurance methodologies for avionics (e.g., ARP4754A, ARP4761).
