Construction Estimator - Heavy Civil

Position Overview:
An established and growing heavy civil contractor in North Pittsburgh area is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Construction Estimator to support preconstruction and bid efforts for infrastructure and site development projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in heavy civil estimating, with bonus points for experience in deep foundations, marine construction, or structural concrete work.

Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and proposals for heavy civil construction projects, including earthwork, utilities, concrete, and structural components.
- Review project plans, specifications, and geotechnical reports to identify scope and risks.
- Perform accurate quantity take-offs and cost analysis.
- Solicit and level subcontractor and supplier quotes.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and executives during bid strategy meetings.
- Track historical cost data to support pricing decisions and value engineering.
- Support preconstruction planning and budget forecasting for negotiated and hard bid projects.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in heavy civil construction estimating.
- Familiarity with DOT, municipal, and private infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of construction means and methods, especially for concrete, earthwork, and underground utilities.
- Experience in deep foundation, piling, or marine construction is a strong plus.
- Proficient in estimating software such as HCSS HeavyBid, On-Screen Takeoff, or similar tools.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and analytical thinking.
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent work experience preferred.
