Public Projects Manager - Civil (Railroad) - Remote
Location: Remote (U.S. Based) - Must be open to travel within the United States
Position Overview:
A growing multidisciplinary infrastructure consulting firm is seeking a motivated Public Projects Manager with a civil engineering background to support railroad-related public projects across the U.S., particularly in the Western region. This is a remote, mid-level management position with excellent opportunities for growth in the dynamic and essential railroad industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage railroad public projects and coordinate with local and state government agencies.
- Review and assess project requests that may impact railroad rights-of-way.
- Liaise with railroad owners and internal project stakeholders to ensure effective communication and coordination.
- Evaluate project work plans and collaborate with design teams and external partners.
- Maintain project databases and track budgets, schedules, and scopes.
- Conduct construction site visits as needed (approx. 10% travel).
- Prepare reports, schedules, and documentation; lead project meetings.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and agency sponsors.
- Support sub-consultant coordination, contracts, and invoicing processes.
- Ensure quality and compliance with applicable procedures and guidelines.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (or related engineering discipline).
- Proven experience in managing infrastructure or transportation-related projects, especially through preliminary engineering and construction phases.
- Strong understanding of railroad and highway infrastructure preferred.
- Familiarity with DOT processes and agency coordination practices.
- Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office, PDF tools, and project tracking software.
- Demonstrated leadership and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Location in California or Arizona is a plus, but candidates from any U.S. location will be considered.
- Must be willing and able to travel within the U.S. (estimated 10%) as required.
