HR Advisor - Employee Relations

We are currently recruiting for an experienced HR Advisor to join a local authority HR team, providing specialist advice and support across a busy employee relations caseload.

This role would suit someone who is confident managing multiple complex cases at the same time and can work independently in a high-volume environment. You will manage a caseload of around 80 cases, so strong organisation, prioritisation and case management skills are essential.

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage a high-volume caseload of complex employee relations cases.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on grievance, disciplinary, performance, capability and attendance matters.
  • Advise and coach managers throughout the employee relations process.
  • Attend formal hearings and appeals, including travelling to different sites where required.
  • Ensure cases are progressed efficiently and in line with employment legislation and organisational policies.
  • Prepare case correspondence, reports and documentation to a high standard.
  • Work effectively with managers, employees and Trade Union representatives.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case management records.

About you:

  • Extensive experience working in a generalist HR / HR Advisory role.
  • Strong experience managing complex employee relations casework.
  • Proven ability to manage a large caseload and multiple cases simultaneously.
  • Experience handling grievance, disciplinary, performance/capability and attendance cases.
  • Confident advising and coaching managers on employee relations matters.
  • Strong knowledge of employment legislation and HR policies.
  • Excellent organisation, communication and decision-making skills.
  • CIPD Level 5 or equivalent HR experience is desirable.

The role requires office attendance two days per week, with some travel to different sites required for hearings.
