Microsoft Cybersecurity Consultant (Contract Role - Onsite in Virginia, Maryland or DC)

Position: Microsoft Cybersecurity Consultant

Contract Duration: 12 months contract to hire

Work Authorization: Top Secret Clearance, ideally a Veteran

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Microsoft Cybersecurity Consultant to join our team onsite in Virginia/DC/Maryland. This role involves implementing and managing advanced cybersecurity solutions within a Microsoft ecosystem. The ideal candidate will have expertise in Microsoft security technologies, strong analytical skills, and the ability to protect critical infrastructure against evolving cyber threats.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design & Implementation:
  • Architect and deploy Microsoft security solutions, including but not limited to Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, Azure Security Center, Sentinel, and Office 365 Security & Compliance.
  • Develop and execute advanced security configurations for Azure Active Directory and hybrid identity models.
  • Threat Analysis & Incident Response:
  • Monitor and respond to security incidents using Microsoft Sentinel and other SIEM tools.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for security breaches and recommend preventive measures.
  • Policy & Compliance:
  • Ensure alignment with federal, state, and organizational cybersecurity policies and compliance standards such as NIST, CMMC, or ISO 27001.
  • Develop and enforce best practices for data protection and access controls within Microsoft environments.
  • Collaboration & Training:
  • Work closely with IT teams, stakeholders, and external vendors to align security strategies with business objectives.
  • Provide training and awareness programs for internal teams on cybersecurity protocols and Microsoft tools.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience:
  • Proven experience (5+ years) in cybersecurity, with a focus on Microsoft technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Defender suite, and Office 365 security features.
  • Ideally from a military background
  • Certifications:
  • Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate, Microsoft Certified: Security Operations Analyst, or equivalent.
  • Additional cybersecurity certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, or CEH) are a plus.
  • Top Secret Clearnace
  • Skills:
  • In-depth knowledge of cloud security, identity management, and threat detection.
  • Proficiency in PowerShell scripting and automation for security tasks.
  • Strong understanding of Zero Trust principles and implementation strategies
