Job Title: System Engineer (NiFi Specialist) - Full-Scope Polygraph

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled System Engineer with strong hands-on experience in Apache NiFi to support mission-critical systems in a fast-paced environment. This position requires an experienced engineer capable of installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and creating dataflows in NiFi, while also providing rapid response to operational issues.

The ideal candidate will have additional experience with RKE2 (Rancher Kubernetes) and Ceph, supporting integration, storage management, and containerized workloads. Due to mission requirements, this position requires on-site support in Maryland with an on-call rotation for after-hours support. Telework is not available.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, manage, and troubleshoot Apache NiFi environments.
  • Design and implement NiFi dataflows to support mission requirements.
  • Rapidly respond to and resolve NiFi issues, including after-hours emergencies.
  • Support system lifecycle activities: architecture design, upgrades, patching, and sustainment.
  • Install, update, and troubleshoot RKE2 (Rancher Kubernetes) environments, pods, and applications.
  • Manage and troubleshoot Ceph storage systems to ensure reliability and performance.
  • Collaborate with system engineers, data engineers, and mission stakeholders to deliver secure and resilient solutions.
  • Document system designs, workflows, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Maintain compliance with security requirements and accreditation standards.

Required Skills

  • Active Full-Scope Polygraph clearance (required, no exceptions).
  • Strong, hands-on experience with Apache NiFi: installation, troubleshooting, dataflow creation, and production support.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with critical uptime requirements.
  • Availability to participate in on-call rotations and respond to after-hours NiFi incidents.
  • Strong knowledge of Linux-based environments and system administration.
  • Solid understanding of networking (TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls, load balancing).

Desired Skills

  • Experience with RKE2 (Rancher Kubernetes): installation, updates, troubleshooting of pods and applications.
  • Experience managing Ceph storage systems, including issue diagnosis and resolution.
  • Familiarity with scripting or automation (Python, Bash, or Ansible).
  • Exposure to DevOps pipelines and Agile environments.
  • Ability to assist with integration issues, including after-hours response when needed.
